As Tanış A.Ş., with our sector experience spanning over 60 years, we play a strategic role in developing Turkey’s grain processing infrastructure. The large-scale projects we carry out on Anatolian lands are of critical importance for our country’s food security, economic development, and employment creation. With our domestic and national production approach, we realize projects that evaluate Turkey’s grain potential in the most efficient way, bringing today’s technology together with Anatolia’s rich agricultural heritage.
On this page, you can find our large-scale mill and grain processing facility projects that we have completed in different regions of Turkey, making significant contributions to our national economy and food sector.
As TANIS, we provided technological transformation in the quality improvement project of Değirmenci Tarım company, which operates in Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zone and has a daily corn crushing capacity of 500 tons. Within the scope of the project, our Sorton color sorter, new generation corn husker, and high-efficiency vertical degerminator machines were gradually commissioned. With this transformation, the oil ratio, which was at 1.2-1.5 levels in previous horizontal systems, was reduced to 0.5-0.8% range. At the same time, capacity per machine increased from 3 tons to 5 tons. The color sorter reduced the black spot ratio in the final product, while our husker and degerminator machines significantly increased product purity and quality standards. This case is an example of how quality and capacity can be improved together through on-site engineering solutions and customer cooperation.
TANIS Seed Production Technologies Facility Established in Mersin
In 2020, TANIS Group’s seed technology production line was moved to Mersin under the leadership of Eray and Tacettin TAN with a strategic decision, establishing a new production facility named “TANIS Seed Production Technologies.” By producing seed and legume processing machines from the existing product portfolio at this facility, general production capacity was increased by 20%. At the same time, thanks to Mersin being a port city and its sectoral strategic position, TANIS has become the leader in Turkey and second in the world after Bühler in seed and legume processing technologies.
TANIS Group is today one of the most comprehensive and integrated industrial establishments in its sector, capable of producing all machinery and equipment in milling, seed processing, feed technologies, silo systems, and steel construction within its own structure.
In 2000, within the scope of the Village Development Project carried out under the leadership of Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, we successfully completed the manufacturing and shipment of 200 village-type seed cleaning units as TANIS. In these systems designed according to the specific needs of each village, selectors with 2.5 ton/hour capacity were developed for small settlements and 5 ton/hour capacity for large villages. Thanks to the project, seed quality was improved in all villages in the region, and farmers’ ability to sort and improve their own local seeds was strengthened. This project was one of the first large-scale steps where TANIS contributed to rural development with domestic production.
Turkey’s First Closed-Type Bulgur Husking Machines (1970–1980)
Between 1970-1980, bulgur production in the Gaziantep region was still carried out by traditional methods, manually pushing wheat between rotating stones. TANIS modernized this difficult and inefficient process and began producing Turkey’s first closed, automatic-feed stone bulgur husking machines. Approximately 500 machines were shipped nationwide within ten years, leading the transformation of the bulgur industry, especially in Southeastern Anatolia. Since Turkey is a wheat country, bulgur production is a strategic food area, and these machines brought high hygiene, capacity, and work safety to the sector. This technology was a turning point in the industrial production of bulgur.
The first roller mill to come to Gaziantep was imported by famous businessman Necip Teymur in 1955, of German origin. For installation, along with the engineer coming from Germany, only the cast parts, pulleys, and shafts of 4 pieces of 60-size rollers belonging to the grinding unit were brought, and all construction and assembly work was completed with local craftsmanship. During this period, Ali Kemal TAN, a well-known woodworker in the region, won the appreciation of the German engineer and was included in the assembly process, and the mill was commissioned in 1956 after 8 months of meticulous work.
Following this process, Gaziantep’s second roller mill was also brought from Europe, and Ali Kemal TAN from the TAN family and his son Kemal TAN personally took part in the assembly process. This mill was installed for Selahattin Öztahtaç and his father; these efforts played a critical role in laying the foundations of OBA Pasta, which later became one of Turkey’s largest pasta producers. The TAN family’s contribution to this process is one of the cornerstones of both industrial heritage and TANIS’s engineering culture.
