Foundation and First Steps (1956-1980)
The story of Tanış A.Ş. began in 1956 when Ali Kemal Tan established a 100m² shop in Gaziantep Sıhcan. Father Ali Kemal Tan and son Kemal Tan were assigned to install the first flour mill coming from Germany to Gaziantep. With the diligence and work passion inherited from the family, working more than 20 hours a day, they began serving the entire region in the manufacturing of flour mills and grain-legume sieves.
Between 1956-1980, when the casting industry was not developed, over 10,000 units of stone flour mills were manufactured and shipped. Between 1960-1980, Tanış Flour Mill Machinery, one of the three manufacturers producing in the same sector in Turkey, was effective in the development of agriculture in the region with grain and legume sieve manufacturing in seed and legume improvement.
During this period, Küsket production also began, and between 1975-1986, the production area increased to 1,600m².
In 1986, the company moved to a 30,000m² factory in Gaziantep 1st Organized Industrial Zone. This relocation was an important step in increasing the company’s production capacity and equipping it with modern equipment.
At the beginning of the 2000s, the company expanded its product range and began export initiatives. During the process, emphasis was placed on quality control, R&D and innovation studies, and ISO 9001 and CE certifications were obtained.
In the 2010s, the company institutionalized its technological innovation efforts and began implementing its digital transformation strategy. During this period:
- Production modernization was carried out in 2016
- R&D studies were accelerated, and the number of patents and utility models increased
- IoT-based remote monitoring systems and smart flour mill concept were developed
- A strategy of strengthening in the global market and opening to new markets was followed
Modern Tanış A.Ş. and Future Outlook (2020 and Beyond)
In 2020, Tanış transformed into a group company structure. It expanded its seed and legume group by opening a new factory in Mersin. As Tanış Group, it continues its activities under four main companies:
- Tanış Flour Mill Machinery
- Tanış Seed Technologies
- Tanış Steel Construction
- Tanış Animal Feed
Additionally, by developing global collaborations:
- Regional distributorship of Kongskilde grain handling product group from Europe-Denmark for over 10 years
- Turkey distributorship of Meyer color sorting machines company from Asia-China since 2020
The company, which has undergone a sustainability-focused transformation, is developing technologies that reduce energy consumption and working with the goal of minimizing its carbon footprint.
