Corn Flour & Semolina Quality Improvement Project, Gaziantep (2024-25)

In 2020, the seed technologies production line of Tanış Group was moved to Mersin under the leadership of Eray and Tacettin Tan with a strategic decision, and a new production facility was established under the name “Tanış Seed Production Technologies.”

Developments:

• Moving the production of seed and legume processing machines to this facility
• 20% increase in general production capacity
• Taking advantage of Mersin’s strategic advantages as a port city
• Rising to the leadership position in Turkey and second place in the world after Bühler in seed and legume processing technologies

Tanış Group is today one of the most comprehensive and integrated industrial organizations in its sector that can realize all machinery and equipment production in milling, seed processing, feed technologies, silo systems, and steel construction fields within its own structure.

International Knowledge Sharing in IAOM Training Forums (2021-Continuing)

Tanış creates global impact by sharing its sectoral knowledge accumulation not only through production but also on international training platforms. We proudly represented Turkey with technical presentations we made in various countries at regional training forums organized by IAOM (International Association of Operative Millers).

Tanış will continue this knowledge-sharing mission and will take an active role in many international organizations in the future.

In 2000, within the scope of the Village Development Project led by the Eskişehir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture, we successfully carried out the manufacturing and shipment of 200 village-type seed cleaning units as Tanış. In these systems designed according to the special needs of each village, selectors with 2.5 tons/hour capacity for small settlements and 5 tons/hour capacity for large villages were developed.

Thanks to the project, seed quality was improved in all villages in the region, and farmers’ ability to clean and improve their own local seeds was strengthened. This project was one of the first large-scale steps where Tanış contributed to rural development with domestic production.

Important Milestones from Our History

Tanış’s First Export: Legume Screen Systems to Syria (1980)

Tanış stepped into the international market with its first export in 1980. A total of 5 legume cleaning and sorting screens, each with 8 bins, were produced for Syria with a total value of 80,000 USD and shipped to Damascus, Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo, and Homs regions with 5 trucks.

On-site installation and commissioning work were carried out by Tanış engineers, thus the systems were put into operation in a short time. This first export became the starting point of Tanış’s export vision based on quality, engineering, and trust and formed the basis of global successes in the following years.

Between 1970-1980, bulgur production in the Gaziantep region was still carried out by traditional methods, by manually pushing wheat between rotating stones. Tanış modernized this difficult and inefficient process and started producing Turkey’s first closed, automatically fed stone bulgur peeling machines.

Impact and Results:

• Shipment of approximately 500 machines nationwide within ten years
• Leading the transformation of the bulgur industry especially in Southeastern Anatolia
• Bringing high hygiene, capacity, and occupational safety standards to the industry
• Turning point in the industrial production of bulgur

Turkey’s First Bean Processing Facility Export: Saudi Arabia/Jeddah (1988)

In 1988, Tanış carried the bean peeling, splitting, and processing technology developed for the first time in Turkey to the international market and exported a 5 tons/hour capacity fully automatic facility to Jeddah city, Saudi Arabia.

This facility was the first automatic bean processing facility in the country and created a new standard in the region in terms of both production hygiene and efficiency. This system developed with Tanış’s engineering power became a turning point not only for Turkey but also for the Middle East market in legume technologies.

Export Beginning of Modern Roll Mills (1987 to Present)

Tanış started modern roll mill production in 1987 and first exported to countries such as Algeria, Syria, and Iraq, then continued its expansion in markets such as Armenia, Georgia, Ukraine, and Tatarstan mostly with compact chassis systems.
